Donna at Work at old Hillsville Courthouse-Library

I graduated from North Surry High School in 1978 andSurry Community College in 1980, with a two year degree in accounting and then worked doing bookkeeping in different offices for the next ten years. I worked in the payroll office at Oakdale Knitting and in the accounting office at Form-Pak, Inc. in Holly Springs. I also worked for Lettie Woodruff and Sheree Barnard at Woodruff Accounting Agency.

In 1996, I started working for the Carroll County Circuit Court's Clerk's Office as an archivist. Carolyn Honeycutt, county clerk, received a couple of grants from the Library of Virginia to flat-fold, repair and computer index the Chancery Papers and Marriage Records from 1842 thru 1913. That was the most interesting job I ever had. I think it was made for me, since I love genealogy so much.

I got interested in family history and joined the Surry County Genealogical Assoc., the Carroll County Historical Society and the Carroll County Genealogy Club. Two other good sites for genealogical research are New River Notes and theCarroll County VA GenWeb Site
